Jonathan Bain

Chief Operating Officer

Jonathan is Chief Operating Officer at Intersect, where he leads asset management and operations for the company’s generation fleet.

Prior to joining Intersect, Jonathan served as Vice President of Renewable Operations Integration for NextEra Energy’s power generation division. He led the enterprise-wide transition of more than 30 GW of wind, solar, and energy storage assets from development and commissioning into long-term operations, accounting for one of the world’s largest renewable energy portfolios.

Jonathan began his tenure at NextEra Energy in 1999, holding a series of increasing leadership positions throughout his 25-year tenure, including six years as Vice President of Wind Operations. His responsibilities included overseeing all wind energy sites across the United States and Canada, and managing a total generation capacity of over 25 GW. His track record of operational excellence led to his appointment as a Corporate Officer in 2016.

He also served as Vice President of Central Maintenance, where he oversaw the planning and execution of major projects and scheduled outages for the company’s non-nuclear fleets. Earlier in his career, he served as Regional General Manager for both ERCOT and NEPOOL, where he managed diverse portfolios of combined-cycle and conventional power plants. He began his career as a field service engineer at Siemens, specializing in the maintenance and optimization of combustion turbines, steam turbines, and generators.

Jonathan holds a BS in Marine Engineering from Maine Maritime Academy and an MBA from the University of Rhode Island. He is also a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. Deeply committed to community service, Jonathan has served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer for Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches, Inc. since 2019.

Jonathan currently resides in Palm Beach Gardens, FL., with his wife and daughter, where he spends his weekends boating and watching his daughter’s lacrosse games.
