Rob Hanson

Chief Technology Officer

Rob Hanson is Chief Technology Officer at Intersect, where he oversees the engineering, construction, and procurement teams. 

Most recently, he co-founded and led Monolith, scaling the company from early technology development through commercial operations, including developing and building the first new carbon black plant in America in more than three decades. Robert led technology, operations, finance, and commercial strategy at Monolith, helping pioneer the electrification of the carbon black and hydrogen industries.

Earlier in his career, Robert worked across the energy sector, including solar technology development and nuclear power. He also serves on the board of Overview Energy, a space-based solar company developing satellites that convert uninterrupted sunlight in space into directable energy on Earth. His background spans first-principles engineering, large-scale project execution, and the commercialization of complex energy and industrial technologies.

Robert holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in California.

Robert lives in Colorado with his wife and three children. Outside of work, he enjoys skiing, hiking, recreational math, and coaching and cheering on his kids at their games.
